In its sixteen years of existence the Durban Business Fair (DBF) continues to instil growth and sustainability to small, medium and micro enterprises (SMMEs).

As part of strategies to ensure the provision of continuous support to local entrepreneurs so that they grow and be globally competitive the Municipality will, on Friday, 27/03/14, launch the 17th edition of the DBF under the theme ‘Connecting Durban Business Fair Globally’.

Deputy Mayor and Chairperson of the Economic Development and Planning Committee Nomvuzo Shabalala said: “In this year’s edition we aim to increase international participation by bringing more businesses from abroad through our existing and new Sister City relationships.

This will give an opportunity for local entrepreneurs to be exposed and conclude potential business deals.”

Shabalala added that the increased participation of international businesses can also result to local businesses exploring export platforms which can assist in making their businesses more profitable by introducing their products and services to new customers.

During the launch well-known and proficient entrepreneur, Sibusiso Shabalala, who is the Chief Executive Officer of Adapt IT (Pty) Ltd will deliver the keynote address and will share his experiences on how to run a successful business.

Over 100 local business people, patrons and industry experts are expected to attend the event.

The main DBF will be held on 16-18 October and will be preceded by three Regional Fairs, which will take place in the West, South and North Regions.

Members of the media are invited to attend the Durban Business Fair launch.
