The much anticipated Regional Business Fairs organised by eThekwini Municipality are set to start on Friday, 17/04/2015.

Regional Business Fairs 2015 taking place in the Western, Southern and Northern regions of eThekwini, will give exhibitors countless opportunities to gain valuable exposure to potential buyers, including established businesses that will be visiting the fairs.

The West Regional Business Fair, which will happen at the Hammarsdale Junction on 17-19 April, will provide a platform for businesses, private sector and government departments from this area to showcase their exquisite products and service offerings.

Deputy Mayor and the Chairperson of Economic Development and Planning Committee, Nomvuzo Shabalala said that the Municipality has realised that small business play a vital role in growing and developing the economy.

Therefore, the Municipality has developed programmes that will assist Small, Medium and Micro-sized Enterprises (SMMEs) advance their businesses and also contribute to the growing economy of the City.

“Regional Business Fairs are an important platform for businesses that are based in township and rural areas to showcase their creativity and gain more exposure. It was this reason that the Municipality decided to invest in such programmes in order to drive and promote small business development, instil a sense of entrepreneurship in our youth and also encourage women to take a keen interest in business,” said Shabalala.

Exhibitions will run concurrently with a Business Indaba where entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to discuss the challenges they face in running their businesses with those who are well established in business.

Participants will also learn about key investments projects in the Western Region, township regeneration programmes and other developments taking place.

Shabalala added that businesses especially SMMEs should make use of this opportunity which will assist their business to gain maximum exposure at the exhibition.

“This is the right platform to unlock business opportunities available in this Region for SMMEs to benefit,” she said. At the West Regional Business Fair entrepreneurs will have the chance to make new contacts and find innovative ways on how to access market products and services.

Members of the public, businesses and those aspire to open businesses are encouraged to be part of the exhibition and conference.
