The eThekwini Transport Authority is pleased to announce that due to public demand the new People Mover Circle Line route to complement the existing Beach and City Lines will be starting on Wednesday, 08/12/10. The Circle Line is aimed at both the City regular users who commute within the CBD as well as visitors. The three Lines will give a more efficient, cost effective and comprehensive transportation in the CBD and greatly enhance commuting, sight-seeing and shopping within the CBD and the City’s major attractions.
A total of 10 Transfer points are provided for to facilitate greater user mobility. Regular patrons should please take note that each of the three routes are now very distinctive and passengers wishing to travel to destinations outside any one particular route need to use the Transfer stations.
Free transfers will apply only at the 10 Transfer points within 60 minutes of the ticket issue which means that users will not pay any more than they are paying currently.
The service has now been designed to allow users to access a number of new destinations within the CBD at a very economic cost.
The People Mover will run on a strict timetable, offering a 15 minute average frequency throughout the day. Starting at 05h00 every morning, the service will terminate at 22h00 Mondays to Saturdays, and at 21h50 on Sundays.
