His Worship, the Mayor, Cllr James Nxumalo invites the media to a dialogue between local government, business and civil society that aspires to shape sustainability in the city. Amongst the presenters is an international speaker, Ms Gwendolyn Hallsmith who is a specialist on sustainable community development and is the author of “Key to Sustainable Cities: Meeting Human Needs, Transforming Community Systems”. Ms Hallsmith is also the Executive Director of the Global Communities Initiative and has worked on various community projects in South Africa.
Other speakers include the Deputy Head of Architect Department Mr Jonathan Edkins, who will present eThekwini’s vision for a sustainable City; Mr Francois Du Toit CEO of African Conservation Trust speaking on civil society’s role in shaping our City and Mr Guy Brazier from Deloitte who will present on business investment on going green. A panel discussion on addressing sustainability challenges in the City will be facilitated by Andrew Venter CEO-Wildlands Conservation Trust.
