The Municipality’s Water and Sanitation Unit would like to notify residents of KwaMashu of possible water shortages as from this evening, Monday, 14/01/13. This is after one of the reservoir (KwaMashu 1) inlets failed and the Municipality is in the process of identifying the leak and repairing the damage.

Currently the reservoir level has dropped below 50%, thus the Municipality is concerned that the reservoir will be empty before the repair is completed. The following areas will be directly affected; K Section, J Section, H Section, L Section, M Section, G Section, F Section, and N Section respectively.

The Municipality would like to plead with residents of these areas to use water sparingly and if the water runs dry to exercise patience for the next 24 hours until the repair is completed. Water tankers will be made available to the affected areas if necessary.
