The eThekwini Municipality’s Business Support, Tourism and Markets Unit will be hosting a two-day 3rd Annual Conference for Emerging and Established Contractors on 23-24 April 2013.
The aim of the Construction Indaba is to empower emerging and established contractors to become self-sustaining entities whilst guiding them through the industry's most common challenges and factors that impact negatively on business growth and sustainability.
Programme Manager, Skuta Ngcobo said this year’s conference will be different, She said in the past two years they have been concentrating on providing information and talking about compliance but this year the speakers will focus on industry legislation and available opportunities.
The theme is ‘Preparing contractors towards participating in the infrastructure programme’
“Most of the contractors are on Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Level One and struggle to upgrade to CIDB Level Two and above in order to benefit from the programmes that many Government Departments offer. Judging from last year’s conference the Municipality embarked on a number of workshops and trainings to assist the contractors on CIDB Level One whose achievements will be highlighted during the conference,” she said.
She then emphasised that it is their mandate to develop and empower emerging contractors with both soft and technical skills, hence this conference.
In this year’s conference, service providers from established companies and institutions will be given a platform to exhibit their services and products to the emerging and Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs).
Members of the media are invited.
The conference is scheduled as follows:
Date : 23-24 April 2013
Time : 08h00- 16h00 (both days)
Venue: Durban Exhibition Centre, Coast of Dreams
