Folweni Business Fair To Focus On Manufacturing Sector

The Folweni Regional Business Fair begins tomorrow, 30/04/2015, at Folweni Community Hall, where emerging entrepreneurs will receive valuable insight from government and the private sector, which will help their businesses to expand.

EThekwini Municipality is fully aware of the importance of economic development, creating employment opportunities and attracting more foreign investors. After the success of the recent West Regional Business Fair in Hammarsdale, more businesses have shown keen interest in participating in the Fairs.

Deputy Mayor and Chairperson of Economic Development and Planning Committee, Cllr Nomvuzo Shabalala said that most businesses were unsuccessful because they lack the necessary skills to run their operations more effectively.

Shabalala said the Regional Business Fairs are the right platform to address these challenges as most sectors are available on site to assist businesses.

“This platform enables small, medium and micro enterprises (SMMEs) to build business relationships with successful companies. This will allow emerging entrepreneurs increase sales, develop innovative ideas and discover new ways to grow their business,” said Shabalala

Residents and people operating small businesses in Folweni will gain more acumen in business development, township regeneration, key strategic projects that will attract investors, manufacturing and much more through attending the fair. There will be prominent business dignitaries who will be focusing more on technicalities of the business environment in order to capacitate SMMEs to access finance and to market their businesses.

Shabalala added that the Municipality is committed to creating more platforms of this nature to ensure that this sector grows enormously.

“The Municipality has recognised the importance of the manufacturing sector and we want to see more local suppliers and manufacturers emerging in our City. This is where we believe the real economic growth and job creation lies,” added Shabalala.

The Folweni Regional Business Fair will take place for one day and will run concurrently with the Business Indaba.
