​Soccer fever is mounting as the much anticipated showdown between Bafana Bafana and Botswana draws nearer. This crucial 2014 Fifa Brazil World Cup Qualifier is expected to thrill and fans are encouraged to get their tickets early to ensure they can watch South Africa’s and Africa’s best footballers in action. The game will be played on Saturday, 07 September 2013. Kick-off is at 3:30 pm.
 
The South African national team arrived in Durban on Monday, 02/09/13 and Botswana arrived on Wednesday, 04/09/13. Organisers of the big match have yet again urged fans to get behind the home team and be part of the live action. Fans wanting to experience the excitement first hand are encouraged to go out and buy their tickets. Tickets for this crucial match are on sale for R50 and R100 at all Computicket, Shoprite, Checkers and Shoprite/Checkers outlets in the province and countrywide.
 
“We have assembled a team who have worked around the clock to put all the relevant plans in place for this game. We are confident that all the logistics are in place and we are ready. There have been colourful street parades, and activations at taxi ranks and train stations to build the excitement in our communities ahead of Saturday’s match,” says Cllr James Nxumalo, Mayor of eThekwini Municipality.
 
KwaZulu-Natal MEC of Sport and Recreation, Ms Ntombikayise Sibhidla-Saphetha says the Province has joined hands with the City to host the match. “We have come together yet again to get behind our home team. We all know what is at stake in this game. This game is about our national team, our national pride and our country. It is important for all of us as a province to pull together and get to the stadium.”
 
“I appeal to all citizens to heed the call to support Bafana Bafana and fill up the stadium Moses Mabhida Stadium. We have always stood behind our national team. Our City and Province are known for their support for Bafana Bafana and for their hosting excellence of major sporting events – we must deliver yet again,” says Dr Musa Gumede, Deputy City Manager of the Municipality’s Community and Emergency Services Cluster.
